Preschool & Lower School Wellness

In the earliest years of school, emotional well-being and academic readiness go hand-in-hand. At ROBS, our Preschool and Lower School students are supported by a team of experts who work together to nurture the whole child—socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

Preschool

• 1 counselor focused on early emotional development and family transition support. The counselor supports developmental milestones and works with teachers on classroom strategies for self-regulation, transitions, and peer relationships.

• 1 early childhood learning specialist for developmental milestones and learning readiness. Teachers collaborate closely with specialists to adapt instruction and ensure every child experiences success.

Lower School

• 1 full-time counselor supporting classroom guidance and individual emotional needs. Age-appropriate social-emotional themes, like managing emotions, showing empathy, and building friendships, are reinforced through Chapel, Bible class, and everyday classroom life.

• 2 learning specialists and 2 reading specialists for targeted academic intervention and accommodations. Learning and reading specialists provide targeted small-group instruction and support within the classroom and in small group settings.

• Daily prayer and moments of reflection help young children experience God’s presence in everyday life.

• Bible stories and songs introduce foundational truths: God made you, God loves you, and God has a purpose for you.

• Weekly Chapel services foster a sense of community and reinforce Christian values like compassion, honesty, and forgiveness.

• Teachers model Christ-like behavior and use real-world moments—sharing, resolving conflict, showing kindness as opportunities for spiritual and character formation.

Students begin developing a sense of identity grounded in being a child of God, loved unconditionally and capable of showing love to others.

Physical Education & Movement

• Daily movement and active play are integrated into the school day, especially in Preschool, where students build coordination and motor skills through music, games, and outdoor time.
• Outdoor recess is prioritized in every grade for unstructured physical activity, social interaction, and creative play.

• Beginning in Kindergarten, students participate in structured P.E. classes multiple times a week that emphasize:

  • Gross and fine motor development

  • Teamwork and sportsmanship

  • Basic fitness, agility, and coordination

Extracurricular Exploration

• After-School Programs at ROBS offer enrichment beyond the classroom, including activities like:

  • Gymnastics

  • Art and music

  • Science, coding, and building

  • Cheer and dance

  • Gardening, cooking, and more
