Strong minds and healthy bodies go hand in hand. That’s why good, nutritious, freshly prepared food is a serious priority at ROBS. Our Sage Dining chefs and staff know how important they are to the educational process here, and they live to create healthy meals that delight and energize our students. They also can readily accommodate specific food allergies and sensitivities for any individual.

Students aren’t the only ones raving about our food. Parents are welcome to enjoy our dining room as well. Many join their kids for lunch, and even more come early to share breakfast. This is a pretty special time. Parents get to know other parents. Families bond before starting the day. Everyone goes away well nourished, and we take care of the cooking and cleaning.

  • How often are desserts served?

    Home-made desserts are served twice weekly, usually on Mondays and Fridays. Fresh fruit is available for dessert each day.
  • What types of breads are served?

    We serve four types of breads: Artisan, Whole Grain White, Honey Wheat Whole Grain, and a Multi Grain bread.
  • Are deli meats nitrate-free?

    We serve a lean, nitrate-free ham selection as well as a low-salt house roasted turkey breast, and a variety of other selections.
  • What type of milk is served?

    1% low fat white and skim chocolate milk are available daily. The milk that we serve is hormone-free and antibiotic-free.
  • What type of juices are served?

    Orange and apple juice are served daily in 4 oz. servings.
  • What types of fruits are served?

    A variety of fresh fruit is available daily including green and red apples, bananas, oranges, and fresh cut fruit on the salad bar.
  • Do you serve organic products?

    Organic products such as leaf spinach, baby organic carrots and other organic field greens are available when reasonable.

  • My child is a picky eater; what choices are available?

    When hot food is not to their liking, sandwiches, as well as sliced meats and cheeses, are available daily for all students. Beginning in third grade, students may choose from the deli/salad/soup bar. Pre-made sandwiches are available for younger students.
  • My child is a vegetarian; what options are available?

    A daily vegetarian entrée’ is served in the hot line. Our chefs are always creating healthy vegetarian options that change with each season.
  • How often are your menus run?

    SAGE operates from a four week cycle of menus; however, the menu is crafted at the discretion of the SAGE Food Service Director and may change from time to time, for example, when a SAGE Educational Seasonings events is held and to keep the menu in season with the freshest local ingredients available.

  • What grades may select from the deli/salad/soup bar?

    Children may serve themselves from the deli/salad/soup bar beginning in the third grade.
  • Can I eat breakfast with my child?

    Breakfast is available each morning starting at 7:15 a.m. in the Segner Family Commons. All students and parents are welcome. Breakfast is a-la-carte, and a breakfast card must be presented at the time of service. Breakfast cards are available for purchase at the reception desk in the Hightower Building.
  • Can my child bring lunch from home?

    Although all students are required to participate in the Sage lunch program, students may bring lunch from home if they prefer to do so. Good nutritional habits, including limited sugar intake, are strongly encouraged. Students bringing food from home are asked to honor the parameters of our lunch program by refraining from bringing commercially-prepared lunches or having them delivered, avoiding sodas during lunch, and bringing dessert (other than fresh fruit) only on Mondays and Fridays.
