Through the years, ROBS has diligently built its endowment into the largest among Houston schools that end in eighth grade. Every other year, we significantly bolster that fund by throwing a community-wide celebration: a gala. Money raised through the gala also helps us establish new programs such as our broadcast studio, KROB. Through underwriting donations, silent and live auctions, wine donations, and a tuition raffle, the Gala has raised nearly $6.8 million for our school.
Long before the gala begins, parents invest many hours of their time to make it a success. Volunteers help with all aspects of the event, including seeking donations for auction items, hosting class parties for students and parents, and organizing student art projects for sale. And, as it turns out, the volunteering ends up being as enjoyable as the event itself.
While the gala is vital to funding our plans and ambitions, it also happens to be really fun. Dinner, dancing, lively discourse, and laughter fill the evening, which always seems to be over too soon.
Our next gala, Kaleidoscope, a black-tie event, is Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
