Playing a sport can contribute immensely to building a smarter student – and a better kid. As heart rates rise in competition, students heighten their understanding of strategy, tactics, execution, and teamwork. They’re growing in self-esteem, discipline, and the spirit of sportsmanship. We create an atmosphere where athletes cultivate respect for teammates and opponents, as well as grace in victory and defeat. They also learn the essential link between practice and improvement. On the court, track, or field, we shape values that will forever help children lead healthier lives both physically and socially.

But perhaps the most important result of ROBS athletics? Our students have fun. Your child is encouraged to participate regardless of athletic ability or prior experience.

Beginning in sixth grade, students can compete against other independent schools in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, and volleyball. Seventh and eighth graders also can participate in tennis and golf. ROBS is a member of the Houston Junior Preparatory Conference.
    • In 2016, the eighth grade girls brought home the lacrosse conference championship.

The ROBS coaches, hand in hand with character education, have masterfully helped shape our boys into young men with solid skills and good and gritty hearts. These are qualities that will serve them well in high school and beyond. I could not be more proud or grateful! Our boys win at what really counts.
