How to Apply

  • 1. Complete the online application.

    Applications, along with a $100 application fee, are due by December 15, 2018 for first-round admission consideration. To be considered as a legacy, an application from a student who is a sibling of an existing or former student or the child of a ROBS alum is due by November 5, 2018.

    Once an application is submitted, an Admission Checklist will be established for your child in your website account.
  • 2. Attend a tour or open house.

    All parents are required to attend a tour or open house. Use the Schedule a Visit online form, or call the Admission Office at 713.623.6938 to register.  Parents only, please, due to space constraints.

  • 3. Schedule an Individual Evaluation.

    This test is administered by Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS). Please register directly with CATS to schedule your child’s individual evaluation. Please contact CATS by December 1 as the testing results are due to ROBS by January 15. Results may be shared with other schools to which the student is applying.

  • 4. Register for Group Testing

    Each applicant is required to attend a one hour classroom experience where skills are assessed in a small group setting. Group testing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Use the “Register for Group Testing” form in your child's admission checklist to register. A $50 group testing registration fee is required. Group testing for fourth grade will take place on February 2, 2019.
  • 5. Register for ISEE testing.

    Applicants for fourth grade are required to take the Primary ISEE. Students may take the ISEE at ROBS or another school. You must register directly with ERB for the ISEE exam. The ISEE will be offered at ROBS for fourth grade on February 2, 2019 after group testing.
  • 6. Submit a Parent Questionnaire.

    Use the Parent Questionnaire form in your child's admission checklist to provide us information about your child and your family.
  • 7. Request a Teacher Recommendation.

    Download a Teacher Recommendation form from the admission checklist and send it to your child’s current teacher. Have the teacher return the completed form to the Admission Office by January 15.
  • 8. Request School Records.

    Download a Transcript Release form from the admission checklist. Complete and submit the form to the registrar at your child’s school. We review transcripts for the past three years. If your child attended more than one school during this time, please submit a Transcript Release Form to each school. Have the school(s) return the transcripts to the Admission Office by January 15 or as soon as they are available.
  • Positions in fourth grade become available due to attrition of existing students. Each year, between one and five positions usually become available in fourth grade.

  • Admission decisions are made on the basis of group testing, teacher recommendations, transcripts, individual evaluation scores, achievement testing, and the parent questionnaire.
