ROBS seeks to build a vibrant student body with diverse talents, interests, and backgrounds. We want bright, motivated, and gracious students. And we know that for some of our students’ families, paying full tuition could be difficult. So, we try to help through financial assistance.
Financial assistance is awarded for two purposes:

  • To promote the development of a richly diverse student population that enhances the quality of the education ROBS provides.

  • To allow for the continued enrollment of students whose families experience an economic hardship or a substantial change in income or expenses that might prevent continued enrollment.

Financial assistance is available to applicants for Kindergarten - eighth grade and Prekindergarten applicants who are siblings of a current student. Aid is awarded based on need. Funds are limited, so it’s important to begin the application process early. The steps for applying are outlined below. Even before that, we encourage families to talk to our Business Office about our philosophy and policies for financial assistance.

To process applications, ROBS uses School and Student Services (SSS), provided by the National Association of Independent Schools. Based on reported financial information, SSS calculates an estimated amount a family would be expected to contribute to educational expenses. This information is used by our Financial Aid Committee to ensure fair and objective decisions.

To give you some idea whether your child may qualify for financial aid, this table shows you last year's awards based on a range of family incomes. Each family’s situation is unique, and the ability of a family to contribute financially is based on many factors such as salary, assets, and number of children in schools that charge tuition. Therefore, this table should not be used to make assumptions about any financial aid award.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

You may begin to apply for financial aid for the 2019-20 school year starting on October 2, 2018. To be eligible for consideration for financial aid, you must complete your application and mail all required documents to SSS by March 1. Grant decisions will be communicated in April 2019.

Online SSS Application
  1. Beginning October 2, 2018, go to https://sssbynais.force.com/familyportal
  2. Click on the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). You only have to complete one PFS for all children applying to our school. Our School Code is 6049.
  3. You will be given a password that will allow you to return to your PFS later until you have submitted it.
By Mail to SSS
  1. If you don’t already have a printed Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and do not want to apply online, call Marguerite McHard in the ROBS Business Office at 713-623-6938, ext. 309 for a PFS application.
  2. Complete the PFS and return it and all required backup documents to: SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, P. O. Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449 USA. (For overnight mail, use this address: SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, 437 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021.)
Additional Required Documentation
Whether applying online or by mail to SSS, all families are required to mail to SSS a copy of their current year’s tax return (2017) and all applicable schedules including W-2’s. (Do not send your tax returns to the School). For families applying for financial aid for the first time, tax information for two years (2017 and 2018) is required.

For any SSS questions, call (800) 344-8328 (Mon. - Fri.: 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST. Sat: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST)

PLEASE NOTE: Application for financial aid does not imply or ensure enrollment. In addition, although River Oaks Baptist School seeks to meet the needs of all families who qualify, financial aid funds are limited; therefore, applications submitted after March 1 will be prioritized in date-received order, and funds will be allocated on a first-come basis. There is a possibility that funds will not be available to late applicants even though need exists.
