Admission FAQ

We are a community of many faiths and belief systems, and we welcome all families who want their child to experience a ROBS education. Every faculty and staff member at ROBS has professed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, with many different Christian denominations represented. Our students also come from many different religious backgrounds. Here’s a look at our current enrollment:

• 32% Christian without a specified denomination
• 15% Methodist
• 15% Catholic
• 12% Episcopalian
• 8% Baptist
• 8% Unreported
• 6% Presbyterian
• 4% Religions other than Christianity

Applications for entry into the following school year open in the beginning of August each year. The deadline to apply is December 10; however, we encourage you to apply early to allow you to start completing the steps on your child’s admission checklist.  Applicant visits and interview appointments will be assigned by mid November.

The acceptance rate varies by grade level.  On average, the acceptance rate is between 40-50%.  We welcome students on the wait pool to go through the application process again.

• Readiness classes have 16 students and two teachers.
• Prekindergarten classes have 18 students and two teachers.
• Kindergarten classes have approximately 18 students and two teachers.
• In grades 1 – 8, there are generally 18-20 students per class with one teacher.

Yes, we think so. There are a number of great options out there, and the most important thing is that you take a good look around and find the best match for your child and your family. Also keep in mind that many schools typically have limited openings, so the more you explore and apply to, the more potential options you will have.

Children of ROBC members, faculty/staff, alumni and current families, along with returning students are given priority status in the admission process; however, we do reserve openings at all levels for new families. Due to limited openings and high demand, priority applicants are not guaranteed admittance, and some are placed on our wait pool every year. All students, including priority applicants, must qualify for admission to receive an offer of admission.

While each enrollment cycle is unique, below are the typical number of openings by grade level:

• Readiness: 48 openings
• Prekindergarten: 24 openings
• Kindergarten: 20 to 25 openings
• Grades 1 – 5: 2 to 5 openings (based on attrition)
• Grade 6: 6 to 10 openings
• Grade 7 and 8: 1 to 2 openings (based on attrition)

After enrollment offers are made in March, a wait pool is generated and students are accepted as spaces become available. In some grades, all spaces fill without going back to the wait pool. When school begins in the fall, those placed in the wait pool are contacted and invited to apply again. Each admission year is treated independently and all families must complete a new admission application to be considered for the next year.

If you decline our offer, you must submit a new application to be considered for future admission.

The only preparation your child will need is a good night’s sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and the simple idea that he or she is about to have a pleasant experience. A couple days in advance, you might casually tell your child that he will get to do some “interesting work” in a classroom with other kids his age. On the day of your child’s visit, we encourage you to arrive at least 10 minutes early to allow your child to get comfortable and acclimated. The visit will consist of age-appropriate activities that are likely familiar to your child.

Testing is designed to give both you and prospective schools a true picture of your child’s abilities. This is important information for you to have in choosing a school that is a good fit for your child. And it is important to us as we seek to admit students who are ready for our program.

The WPPSI/WISC is used as an evaluative tool for applicants for Prekindergarten to grade 4. We strongly discourage parents from trying to prepare children for testing. Trying to prepare a child for a cognitive test such as the WPPSI or WISC invalidates the results.

The ISEE exam is used as an evaluative tool for grades 5-8 and measures grade level knowledge in the areas of quantitative reasoning, mathematics achievement, verbal reasoning, and reading comprehension. Prep is allowed and many test prep programs are offered in person and online​, including Test Innovators. ROBS will host the ISEE for 2025-26 ROBS middle school applicants on Saturday, November 16, 2024.​ You will have the opportunity to register via your child’s checklist.

Yes. Every admission year is independent of prior years, and applying students must go through the entire process, including submitting a new application.

Yes! All students may enroll in Prime Time, which is our extended day program open until 6:00 p.m. In addition, we also offer a wide array of on-campus afterschool enrichment activities led by outside providers, including dance, gymnastics, musical theatre, coding/robotics, Tae Kwon Do, sewing, and golf.
