Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to ROBS!

For 70 years, River Oaks Baptist School has occupied a singular place in Houston’s educational landscape with a sustained emphasis on both a rigorous, ambitious academic program as well as a commitment to character and moral education rooted in faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles. In 1955, the School opened its doors with 30 children and two teachers. Today, we serve 930 children who represent 50+ zip codes and over 15 faith traditions; they are supported by 180+ faculty and staff members who each profess the Christian faith.

Although we have grown in size and stature since our opening, our mission has remained steadfast: to educate all the interdependent aspects – intellectual, physical, spiritual, moral, and social – of each child in our care. Passionate, dedicated educators help carry out our dual mission through a commitment to continuous improvement, best pedagogical practices, and – above all – their students. The Biblical “fruit of the Spirit” – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – drawn from Galatians 5:22-23, serve as our Core Values and underpin everything we do here at ROBS.

And we do everything with joy! From squeals on the playground to excited cheers at championship games and songs of praise in chapel – there is no shortage of joyful energy on the ROBS campus. Although you may not be able to hear the joy on this website, I hope you can see it – in the smiling face of a student or through the palpable passion of a teacher that transcends the screen.

And if you want to experience this joyful energy in person, I hope you’ll schedule a visit to our campus sometime soon. As I begin my 14^th year as Head of School, I’m more excited about the future of ROBS than ever before. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in our next chapter.
